Meet Wally

Hello. My name is Walter Daudrich – my friends call me Wally – and I am running to be the next leader of the PC Party of Manitoba.

I was born and raised in Winnipeg and except for the time I spent studying in the United States, Manitoba has been my home.

I love this province. It has everything… vibrant towns and cities, thriving agricultural communities and an abundance of natural resources and human talent. Manitoba truly is a land of limitless potential. That’s why my wife and I chose to settle and raise our family here.

I’ve lived and worked in all regions of our province and my wife, Dawn, and I raised our 5 children here.

I started Lazy Bear Expeditions in 1995 and gradually grew it into what it is today: a multi-million-dollar eco-tourism business, bringing adventure-seekers from around the world to Manitoba to experience its richness and beauty.

From 2017 to 2021 I served as President of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, providing support to the Canadian Coast Guard and National Defense with search and rescue and environmental response.

My roots in our party are strong and deep. Until stepping aside to run for the leadership I was the longest serving member of the Party’s board of directors.

Democracy is meaningless in the absence of competing ideas. Manitoba needs – and Manitobans deserve – a strong political party representing common-sense conservative values in the public square. Traditionally, the PC Party of Manitoba has been that voice. Unfortunately, it has lost its way in recent years, becoming little more than a private club for the establishment elites, abandoning many of its core principles while alienating its members and supporters.

That is why I am running for Leader – because before we can expect Manitobans to trust us to govern the province, we must first demonstrate that we can govern ourselves… effectively, and with the utmost integrity.

This campaign is about more than who will be the leader of our party though – It’s about our party’s very heart and soul.

I believe that we must return to our roots as the party of limited government and sensible spending; The party that understands that the role of government in a free and democratic society is to serve the people, not rule over them.

We must be the party that honours parents and family and respects the common-sense values they choose to live by, and we must be the party that encourages independence, celebrates hard work, and inspires personal success, because it is only through personal success that wealth is created, communities thrive, and our province flourishes.

I invite you to join me on this journey of renewal. Let’s make the PC Party of Manitoba the party of hope and opportunity for all Manitobans – together.
